Remember what it was like to have your whole future ahead of you?  Exciting, but scary, too!   Imagine… you are about to enter high school, trying for the first time to sort through what careers are out there.  What am I good at?  What do I like to do, and what are other people telling me I should do?  Why should I study math?  What does science really mean after I graduate?  What are the jobs of the future?

Designed specifically for your 8th-grader, Experience Your Future Day is an interactive, hands-on experience…Your child will be able to build a platform, rewire a circuit board, give CPR, manufacture a product…all in one place.  They will have a chance to speak with the people that are passionate about their fields, and learn what it’s like to really spend their day performing that work.  It is a career experiential learning day designed for early high school students to gain hands-on exposure to a variety of career opportunities and industries.  The goal of the program is to show students:

• What it’s really like to work in a particular field
• Career paths and job growth beyond the entry level
• Education required to enter a career
• Hands-on experience with technical skills
• A passion for their future! 

How Can You Help?

• Help your 8th grader engage in the experience and get excited about visiting these potential employers.
• Talk to them about potential career paths. 
• Help them dress appropriately -- the employers will appreciate students who arrive dress like they are going to an interview
• And engage them in a meaningful conversation about the event afterwards.  What sparked their interest? Who had something cool?  Did their ideas about their future career change following the event?
